Archaeologist
Belleville, IL
BFW/Marcum is seeking a detail-oriented, knowledgeable, and field-savvy archaeologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting field surveys, excavations, artifact analysis, and will be responsible for writing technical reports and ensuring regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal historic preservation requirements.

Essential Job Functions:
- Lead/Conduct archaeological surveys, evaluations, and data recovery (Phases I-III)
- Conduct archival research, desktop reviews, site file checks, and develop cultural resource documentation
- Prepare Section 106 compliance reports for SHPOs, THPOs, and federal agencies
- Collaborate on NEPA-related environmental documentation (EAs, EISs)
- Support public engagement, grant applications, and interdisciplinary planning
Education/Experience:
- Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field (Ph.D. a plus).
- Minimum 3-5 years of field experience in conducting cultural resource surveys
- Proficiency with GPS and GIS mapping tools.
- Strong technical writing and research skills.
- Familiarity with state CRM guidelines (KY, MO, IL, IN, TN)
- Ability to travel for fieldwork and work in various environmental conditions.
- Valid driver's license.
