Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Has primary responsibility and accountability for coordinating financial aspects of care for patients of the Transplant Center. Works with patients and their families beginning with the evaluation for transplantation and continuing through and after transplantation, in a compassionate and tactful manner, in order to help facilitate access to and provide continuity of care. Is a member of the transplant team; plans and coordinates financial functions and activities with other members of the transplant team, insurers and Medical Center departments and staff.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Required: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
  • Frequent: standing, walking.
  • Occasional: sitting, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, pushing/pulling usual weight of 10 pounds up to 25 pounds; carrying usual weight of 5 pounds; reaching at, above and below shoulder level, stooping/bending, lifting usual weight of 10 pounds up to 25 pounds.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Is expected to make oneself available to patients 24/7.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care, business or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with computer applications, such as Word, Excel, etc.

B. EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years’ experience to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of health care providers.
  • One (1) year experience in Transplant Center billing and insurance preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare resources in the community.
• Ability to demonstrate the following: o Establishing supportive and effective relationships with oncology patients and their families. o Develop rapport, effective relationships, and network with a broad range of people, including healthcare professionals and staff, government agencies, businesses, and organizations. o Knowledge and ability to work with multicultural and underserved populations. o Knowledge and ability to problem solve; anticipate issues and concerns and address and/or resolve them in an effective manner. o Knowledge or regulatory requirements pertaining to duties and responsibilities. o Effective verbal and written communication skills.
