Job purpose:

Identify and develop relationship with potential customers in the building products and material handling industries, focusing on customers in the Southwestern part of the United States. A territory will be defined, but is always subject to change.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify potential customers within the assigned territory and industries.
  • Maintain relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Visit plant locations and potential plant locations of customers to determine current capital projects and parts needs or potential long-term needs.
  • Attend industry conferences and events to develop relationships with current customers and meet potential customers.
  • Respond to requests for quotes on a timely basis, working with management, other sales personnel, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing to determine a fair price and reasonable delivery date.
  • Resolve pricing and/or delivery issues with customers.
  • Work with inside Sales team, Manager, Purchasing, manufacturing, and inventory control specialist to maintain proper levels of inventory on re-sale parts.

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience: One to four years sales experience in a similar industry with knowledge of machinery and parts utilized by the company. Mechanical Engineering degree is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents, project plans and contracts. Ability to speak effectively with employees of the company and customers. Ability to present information in one-on-one or group situations. Ability to negotiate contracts. A go-getter with an outgoing and self-starter personality.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply basic business math. Ability to solve problems. Ability to anticipate lead time for delivery of goods and services.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, reach with arms, and lift up to 25 pounds. 75% travel required. Ability to drive a vehicle for long distances and stay overnight.

NOTES:

  • Employee will be required to travel to North Carolina home office during training procedures, as well as, conditions that may require presence during inquiry review, estimate/quotation building and other special occasions.

  • A company vehicle, computer and cell phone will be provided.

  • Prospective employee be provided with training procedures (perhaps online and/or in person) if needed to improve his/her position.
