Overview:

The Lead Character Artist will be at the heart of character development at Ghostpunch Games, bringing to life a diverse range of characters that are pivotal to our games' narratives and worlds. With a minimum of 7 years of experience in character art, the ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of various art styles and the ability to adapt to and innovate within them. This role requires a combination of artistic excellence, leadership skills, and a passion for video games.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and mentor a team of talented character artists, fostering a creative and productive environment.
- Collaborate closely with the art director and design teams to conceptualize and create compelling characters that fit within the game's universe and enhance the player's experience.
- Develop detailed character designs, models, and textures with a focus on versatility across a wide range of art styles.
- Oversee the character creation pipeline from concept to final model, ensuring a high standard of quality and consistency.
- Drive the innovation and implementation of new techniques and technologies in character art.
- Manage timelines and project milestones, ensuring the team meets production deadlines.

Qualifications:

- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in character art for video games, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Senior level artists who are ready to move into a lead role will also be considered.
- A strong portfolio showcasing a wide variety of art styles, exceptional character design, and modeling skills.
- Expertise in industry-standard tools and software such as ZBrush, Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
- Proficiency in both high and low poly modeling, texturing, and shading.
- Excellent understanding of anatomy, proportion, weight, and volume as they relate to character modeling and animation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
- A genuine passion for video games and an understanding of game design principles.
