THE CITY OF DOUGLASVILLE IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR OUR SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM!

This learning experience affords the students a view of the inner workings of city government. Each intern will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of study. Each intern must be open to new ideas and suggestions, and be committed to completing the internship in its entirety.

SUMMER INTERN – Organizational Development

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:

Selected students, under the supervision of the Department Director and/or Manager, will participate in a meaningful and challenging summer internship that will allow each intern to have exposure to different facets of local government, and receive critical skills, and career and personal development training. Interns will work on a wide variety of tasks and projects within a cross-functional team of professionals and get exposure to leaders within the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in coordinating Douglasville University sessions, including confirming facilitators, scheduling rooms, and preparing materials.
• Assist in planning wellness events, health fairs, and awareness campaigns
• Support the planning and execution of employee appreciation activities and internal campaigns
• Draft content for the intranet, flyers for bathroom boards, and digital display announcements.
• Maintain and update tracking spreadsheets for attendance, feedback, and participation in development programs
• Attend OD planning meetings and provide note-taking or follow-up support as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate (within the last year), majoring in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Management or related major preferred; Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent oral and written communications skills are all essential to this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the operation of general office equipment including calculator, computer keyboard, computer word processing or other programs, telephone, telephone console, or copy machine as required
• Knowledge of basic mathematical and accounting procedures
• Skill in operating a computer
• Skill in communicating both orally and in written form
• Skill in researching complex issues and developing recommended actions
• Ability to develop, implement and evaluate new and revised procedures, methods and standards
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise considerable skill in information handling, privacy of records and judgment
• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is sedentary work and requires speaking and talking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Incumbent works in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.

Typically, 30+ hours per week; The rate of pay will be paid at $20 per hour.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :

• United States citizen or authorized to work in the United States
• Current enrollment in a Georgia college, university, or technical school (or recently graduate within the last year)
• Current grade point average of 3.0 or better
