About the role This part-time freelance position (5-10 hours per week) offers a chance to shape the visual narrative of a fast-growing company with an important mission. As a Performance Marketing Motion Graphics Designer, you will work directly with our Performance Marketing Team, collaborating with the Design Team to develop compelling animated ads that resonate with a diverse audience. You'll leverage data-driven insights to continually refine your work, ensuring that each creative asset not only meets brand standards but also drives tangible performance outcomes. The role offers flexibility in project scope, making it ideal for a creative professional seeking to make a meaningful impact in an entrepreneurial environment.
What you'll do - Conceptualize and create captivating motion graphics and animations (e.g., kinetic typography, animated product highlights, cinemagraphs) to support performance-focused social media ad campaigns.
- Collaborate closely with the Paid Team and consult with the Design Team to ensure all creative assets align with Self's brand identity and visual storytelling guidelines.
- Continuously optimize ad creatives based on performance data, iterating designs quickly to improve engagement, conversion rates, and overall customer acquisition metrics.
- Adapt animations to meet various social platform requirements and specs, staying current with best practices for regulated FinTech marketing.
- Provide insights and recommendations on new motion graphics techniques, tools, and trends to help Self remain an industry leader in marketing innovation.
What you will bring - 4+ years of experience in motion graphics design, ideally focused on performance marketing and social media advertising.
- 3+ years of demonstrated success creating A/B test variations and iterating on video/animation creatives based on real-time performance data.
- Proven expertise in motion graphics software (e.g., After Effects, Premiere Pro), demonstrated through a solid portfolio of performance-driven designs.
- Familiarity with social media ad formats, specs, and best practices across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube).
- Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of animation styles-from kinetic typography to cinemagraphs-demonstrating a keen eye for branding and storytelling.
- Demonstrates an ability to adhere to and work within brand guidelines.
- Track record of using data and analytics to guide creative decisions and optimize ad performance.
- Strong storytelling capabilities, with an eye for detail and brand consistency in a regulated industry environment.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting, iterating designs quickly based on feedback and performance metrics.
- Excellent communication skills and openness to collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred experience in financial services, FinTech, or another regulated industry, with an understanding of compliance considerations.
Base hourly range: $65 - $85 hourly. Individual pay is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and other job-related reasons. Opportunity to move into a monthly retainer in the future.
