Job Description Process Operators will work in the Process Area of a refractory plant, which manufactures various types of bricks for high heat applications. This role involves working in a hot, repetitive, and physically demanding environment. The plant is not involved in manufacturing residential bricks. The size of the bricks ranges from 3 inches to 33 inches long, and their creation involves a comprehensive process including heat treatment before shipment.
Responsibilities - Operate sit-down forklifts to transport materials within the plant.
- Lift and handle bricks weighing between 20-50 pounds repetitively.
- Perform basic data entry and math tasks, such as counting bricks and pallets.
- Rotate through 10 different workstations in the Process Area, ensuring proficiency in each.
- Operate and oversee various machinery, including the Lingl station, Cascade Feed, Size Check area, Robot area, FL driver station, and Shrinking area.
- Remove tie-ins on pallets and restack them onto different pallets.
- Feed bricks into ovens and utilize lift vacuums for longer bricks.
- Stack bricks on pallets and oversee conveyor belt operations.
- Monitor and attend to alarms in the Robot area and load pallets into machines.
- Conduct data entry tasks while frequently transitioning on and off the forklift.
- Operate heat guns to seal pallets and print shipping labels in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills - Experience operating sit-down forklifts.
- Basic computer skills for data entry tasks.
- Basic math skills for counting bricks and pallets.
- Physical ability to lift 20-50 pounds repetitively.
- Strong safety awareness.
Additional Skills & Qualifications - Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Skills in inspection and troubleshooting.

Work Environment All candidates must train on the first shift for 4-5 weeks, with training hours from 6 AM to 6 PM or 6 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday, including rotating weekends. Most current openings are on the second shift, which could be from 6 PM to 6 AM or other variations depending on the department. The 12-hour shifts operate on a rotating schedule. The dress code is long pants and a t-shirt, with uniforms provided but optional. Work areas may reach up to 120 degrees, but each workstation is equipped with portable AC units to maintain a temperature of around 70 degrees. The facility is generally clean and can be loud at times, although ear protection is not required.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.56 - $24.56/hr.
