Position Summary This position will report within the Financial Planning and Analysis team, and will support a specific clinical department or group of departments. The analyst will act as the finance lead for that department, providing support in budgeting, variance analysis, and identifying opportunities for growth and cost savings.
In addition, the selected candidate will be called upon to perform advanced and complex financial analysis and data management; to participate in projects or portions of projects; to establish and maintain productive relationships; to demonstrate initiative; and to produce work of the highest quality without extensive supervision. The selected candidate must be: Proactive, dedicated, productive, and eager to make a difference. Not satisfied until they're confident of the value, quality, and accuracy of their work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Preparing the budget and semi-annual forecast for the assigned clinical department
•Giving monthly presentations on the department's finances, including clinical productivity and revenue, salaries, supply expenses, and activity related to sponsored research and teaching
•Conducting deep-dive analyses on the financial viability of particular service lines or providers
•Advising on areas for revenue growth and cost containment driven by data analytics
•Understanding the department's physician compensation model and ensuring the accuracy of all payments
•Supporting the Executive Director and Chair in all requests for data, financial analysis, and special projects
Minimum Qualifications: Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative and analytical field is required. Examples of desired majors include: Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Healthcare Administration. Other qualifications such as an MBA, MHA, CPA, or CHFP are desirable.
Experience
Five years of progressive experience in a financial analysis role is preferred, with demonstrated ability to successfully complete analyses without extensive supervision. Healthcare experience in a large physicians' group or hospital is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft software, Excel in particular, is required. Experience with Cognos TM1/Analytics, Hyperion, Strata, KH, or similar financial systems is preferred, as is experience with data analysis and visualization applications such as Microsoft BI or Tableau. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Competencies High initiative, reliability, and responsiveness are imperative. Must maintain presence and engagement with the team during normal business hours and beyond normal business hours throughout the year as needs dictate. Must put in the extra time and effort to complete assignments in a timely way. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are imperative. A focus on teamwork and service to the organization is also imperative. Must take pride in producing work of the highest quality. Must represent FP&A and the Finance department well throughout the organization.
