As we continue to grow, we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team. Job Description: As a Veterinary Assistant at Shirlington Animal Hospital, you will play a key role in supporting our veterinary team in the diagnosis and treatment of small animal patients. You will assist with routine procedures, ensure a positive experience for both pets and clients, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinic environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with animals and is eager to further develop their veterinary skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. Key Responsibilities: Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures. Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment. Handle and restrain animals safely and humanely during exams, treatments, and procedures. Administer medications and vaccines as directed. Perform routine laboratory tests, including bloodwork, urinalysis, and cytology. Record patient information, treatment notes, and updates in the electronic medical record system. Ensure proper sanitation of equipment, instruments, and clinic areas. Educate pet owners on post-treatment care, medication instructions, and general pet care practices. Assist with front desk duties, such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and processing payments as needed. Provide compassionate and professional care to both pets and their owners. Qualifications: Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant, Technician, or in a similar animal care role preferred. Strong passion for animal care and well-being. Ability to work efficiently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Basic understanding of veterinary procedures, medical terminology, and animal care. Ability to lift and restrain animals, and stand for extended periods of time. Flexibility to work weekends, and evenings. Weekend rotation required. Compassionate, patient, and professional attitude toward animals and their owners. Shirlington Animal Hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 2:00pm. We are closed on Sunday. We do not provide any boarding or grooming. Experience with Avimark preferred but not required. Community Veterinary Partners
